Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Does my child need coding experience?
A1: No. This program focuses on systems thinking and design—not programming.

Q2: What should my child bring?
A2: Just a laptop with Wi-Fi capability. We provide everything else.

Q3: What if my child doesn't have a laptop?
A3: Contact us at byronmapp@b3xtech.com. We have limited backup devices available.

Q4: Is lunch provided?
A4: No (program ends at 2 PM). We provide snacks and water throughout.

Q5: What is your refund policy?
A5: Full refund if cancelled 7+ days before first session (Feb 22, 2026).

Q6: Can my child miss a Saturday?
A6: We encourage full attendance. If they must miss one due to emergency, we provide catch-up materials.

Q7: Will my child receive a certificate?
A7: Yes. Students completing all 4 weeks receive a Certificate of Completion.

Q8: What about the Azure account setup? Do I need to provide a credit card?

A8: Yes. Microsoft Azure requires a credit card to create an account, even for the free tier we'll be using. Here's what you need to know:

  • No charges will occur - We use Azure's free tier, which provides $200 in credits valid for 30 days
  • Standard practice - This is Microsoft's standard verification process (similar to free trials on Netflix, etc.)
  • Parental consent required - We need parent/guardian permission and payment information to set up student accounts
  • Protected setup - We guide students through proper account setup during Week 1 to ensure spending limits and protections are in place
  • Alternative available - If you're uncomfortable providing card information, contact us at byronmapp@b3xtech.com to discuss the alternatives listed below

Why Azure requires this: Even for free accounts, Microsoft uses credit card verification to prevent abuse and bot account creation. It's an industry-standard practice.

Alternative 1: Azure for Students

  • Some students may qualify for Azure for Students (no card required)
  • Requires school email address (.edu)
  • Limited to ages 13+

Alternative 2: Parent Creates Account for Minor

  • Parent creates Azure account in their name
  • Student uses parent's account under supervision
  • Parent maintains full control
